MEDICAL
DEPARTMENT
A few thoughts on Medical, and keeping well for events.
Hydration is the key, even when it’s not “hot” we all need to properly hydrate leading up to an event weekend and continue to hydrate during the weekend. Also, hand in hand with that is food intake. You cannot skip eating, nutrition is as important as hydrating.
It is the responsibility of the company commanders and NCO’s to keep and eye on your men and make sure they are hydrating and eating. If they look peaked, stand them down, or send to the Surgeon of the Regt. staff.
To add to this, every person that takes the field MUST have a full canteen of water NO exceptions. Again, officers and NCO’s this is your responsibility to make sure your men have full canteens before you leave camp for all formations. This will be checked for at Regt. inspections. No one will be allowed to go to the field without a full canteen.
To assist in case of emergency, if there are any medically trained folks in your company have them introduce themselves to the Regt. Surgeon and staff so we know who may be able to assist in the case of emergency.
If someone has any type of injury or issue make sure it gets reported to the Surgeon and staff so we can be aware of what to keep an eye out for.
Remember, proper conditioning for an event weekend needs to start days in advance. Safety first.
