REGIMENTAL

ADJUTANT'S

CORNER

Friends,
I wanted to take this opportunity to send out an email to communicate at least a little something to y'all. It has been a very sparse season as far as battle events go, especially given that Stanardsville has been cancelled. It is a very long time between Bentonville and Cedar Creek.
I do hope, that we will see as many of you as can come at Cedar Creek. That should be a good time as the folks there seem quite able to put on good events and can handle changes in weather and other situations better than most sites.

I do think the site folks at B-ville did a good job, they had us camped well, amenities were more than adequate. Just the battles left much to be desired to put it politely.
I hope y'all take this season to do some living histories, and maybe go to events in new locations. It is a good season to check out different places. Living histories give a good chance to talk to people and possibly get some recruits.
One other thing I would strongly suggest is that you check out, if you haven't, the Museum of the Confederacy's site. http://www.moc.org/site/PageServer

On their site in their online store is a CD called "The Rebel Yell Lives", it is $10.00. It is well worth the 10 bucks, and it goes to support the great cause of the MOC. The REAL "rebel yell" is simply chilling to hear. The extremely poor job that the re-enactors do is pitiful. If you listen to the real rebel yell you will know why the Federals were scared. I encourage each individual, or at the very least, each company to buy a copy and for each company to work at recreating it. It is a cheap way to drastically improve the historical impression that the Regt. portrays.
I hope that maybe I'll hear a better, and more historically accurate rebel yell from the 3rd at Cedar Creek.
Regards,
Capt. TJ Bartel
Adjutant 3rd Regiment
"Britton's Battalion"
